What makes WhatsApp AI actually work (and what doesn't)

The recovery number above assumes the AI knows your products, prices, stock, and shipping zones — and that you let it act on routine inquiries while escalating high-stakes ones. Generic chatbots can answer "what are your hours?" but can't quote real stock, hold inventory, or take payment. Brain, the customer-side AI built into every WoBooks plan, is wired into your live store data so it can close routine orders in the chat without handing off to a human. For a deeper take on what makes a WhatsApp AI agent different from a knowledge-base chatbot, see our guide on AI customer service on WhatsApp.

The "use both" pattern most owners settle on: Brain handles routine product, price, stock, shipping, and reservation inquiries automatically; refunds, disputes, custom orders, and complaints get escalated to you with full context. The AI doesn't replace your judgment — it absorbs the volume that didn't need your judgment in the first place.

Questions about the calculator

What does this calculator estimate?

Two things: the hours per year your team currently spends manually replying to WhatsApp inquiries (and the rupee value of that time), and the estimated revenue lost from inquiries that arrive outside business hours and go cold before you reply. The tool then shows the WoBooks Brain plan that fits your volume and the all-in net annual value if AI handles the routine flow. You supply every input — there are no fixed claims about your specific business.

Where does the 40% off-hours abandonment number come from?

The 40% default is an industry estimate of the percentage of after-hours inquiries that go cold before a manual reply lands. Real abandonment rates vary by category — urgent services (food delivery, plumbing) trend 60–80%, considered purchases (real estate, B2B) trend 10–20%. The calculator lets you adjust this slider to match your specific experience. The quickest way to validate: pull a sample of your last month's WhatsApp messages, count how many came in after 6pm or on weekends, and check how many of those eventually converted to orders.

Is the cost of AI included in the ROI calculation?

Yes. The calculator recommends a WoBooks Brain plan based on your monthly inquiry volume (Taste trial under 25 inquiries, Starter under 200, Growth under 1,000, Scale above) and subtracts that yearly subscription from the recovered hours and revenue. The "Net annual value" line is the all-in number after paying for the AI.

Why does the recovery formula assume only 50% of lost revenue is recoverable?

Conservative honesty. Not every customer who abandoned an off-hours inquiry was lost because of response time — some never had real intent, some found a competitor with a feature you don't offer, some had a question Brain wouldn't have been able to close anyway. The 50% recovery rate reflects what most WoBooks merchants who turn on Brain see in their first six months. Your specific result depends on your category, catalog depth, and how aggressively you let Brain handle inquiries vs escalate.

What if I have a customer-service rep already?

You can still recover time and revenue. Brain handles the routine 70–80% of inquiries (product, price, stock, shipping, hours, reservations) automatically; your CS rep handles the high-stakes 20–30% (refunds, complaints, custom orders) that need human judgment. The hourly-rate input lets you model your CS rep's cost — and the recommendation usually upgrades to Growth or Scale so the AI's volume capacity matches what your team currently handles manually.

Will customers know they are talking to an AI?

That's your choice. By default Brain identifies as your store's AI assistant when asked directly but doesn't pre-announce itself. You can configure full disclosure, soft disclosure, or no disclosure per business preference. Most Pakistani SMBs land on soft disclosure — "Hi! 👋 I'm Maya from [Store Name]. How can I help?" — and find customers don't ask once the replies are fast, accurate, and human-like. For more on this, see the WhatsApp AI guide linked above.

How accurate are the recovered numbers as a forecast?

They're an estimate, not a forecast. Actual recovery depends on how well-trained your product catalog is for the AI to query, your customers' willingness to engage with AI replies, your specific abandonment rate, and ordinary business variability. The calculator is a planning tool — useful for sizing whether the WoBooks subscription will likely be a meaningful net positive, not for guaranteeing any specific number.

Does Brain work with my existing WhatsApp Business number?

Yes. You link your WhatsApp Business number in WoBooks Settings → Channels after signing up. If your WABA (WhatsApp Business API) verification with Meta is still pending, WoBooks provides a shared sender during onboarding so you can test Brain immediately; once Meta approves your number, you swap over without losing configuration. You can talk to Companion right now at +1 555 910-8090 to see how it works before signing up.
