What is Two-sided AI?

Two-sided AI is the design pattern where a single platform exposes two AI agents — one serving the business owner and one serving the customer — that share the same underlying business data but operate on different channels with different tools.

Two-sided AI is the design pattern where a business platform ships two AI agents that share a single source of truth (products, prices, stock, customers, accounting) but expose different surfaces to different audiences. One agent serves the business owner; the second agent serves the owner's customers. Both update the same underlying data, so a change one makes is instantly visible to the other.

Concretely, in WoBooks:

  • Companion is the owner-side AI. The owner talks to it by chat or voice. It edits the website, adds products from a caption, drafts marketing copy, posts journal entries, generates A/B variants, and delivers a daily briefing.
  • Brain is the customer-side AI. Customers talk to it on WhatsApp. It quotes live stock, quotes shipping by city, holds inventory, takes orders with payment, and escalates anything that needs the owner.

The two agents reinforce each other. When Companion updates inventory at midnight, Brain reflects the new stock count to a customer at 12:05. When Brain learns from a customer that a popular product is selling out, Companion surfaces that pattern in the owner's morning briefing. The data flywheel compounds because the owner-side AI and the customer-side AI are looking at the same business.

Two-sided AI is a meaningful step beyond traditional "chatbot for customers" or "productivity AI for owners" — those tools require integrations between separate systems. In a two-sided AI platform, both agents share one runtime, one memory store, and one approval queue.

Common questions

Do the two AIs share my customer data?

Yes, but only within your tenant. Companion and Brain both see your products, orders, customers, and accounting — they are two surfaces of the same agent running on your data. They cannot see other tenants' data. Memory of preferences is yours to inspect, pin, list, or forget at any time.

Can I use just one side and not the other?

Yes. Some owners use Companion intensively but don't enable Brain on WhatsApp yet (or vice versa). Both are included in every WoBooks plan but Brain only activates once you connect a WhatsApp Business number. The two-sided design is the option, not the requirement.
